It's gonna be a hot one!

Journal Entry: Fri Jun 27, 2008, 8:26 AM
Here comes a toasty weekend with the possibility of temps hitting 100! No more snow for us  Crazy weather this year...

So, the job fairy has been teasing me lately. Such a tease...

My laptop decided to stop working. I haven't the slightest clue what happened, but I've tested the memory, and hard drive and every thing passed. I've got it about half re-set now, and hopefully it was just a fluke of sorts.

I've been working on some major landscaping projects... I'll get photos as it progresses, but we are doing a major improvement to the front adding a decorative walkway, some lights and more plants instead of grass. I think we are taking out about half the grass in the front... crazy!

Everyone have a great weekend! We hope to go see Wall-E... hope you have fun plans as well.

Make you a deal Tereasa I'll send some cold your way and you can send me some heat!! Brrrr!! :giggle: Hope you get the laptop Gremlins sorted out and have a great weekend too!
Yeah, we should be heading for some hotter weather as well. I really hope so. I'm tired of this shifting from cold to.. a little less cold. :unimpressed:

My laptop is messing with me as well at the moment. It overheats I think, gets very hot and turns off when using the larger programs :| I better get some serious backup done one of these days..

What's the job fairy been up to? :-( Spank that tease :spank:

Silly laptops. Why don't they last anymore? It used to be laptops were made to last forever, now they seem to decide to stop working as soon as they are out of warranty. So far so good on mine, it's just a pain to reset everything up. I hope yours is ok...

That darn job fairy. I've been hearing this rumor from a few different sources that the college is going to offer me a full time job before the end of June. I've been hearing it most of the month, but I haven't gotten the phone call. And these are reliable sources too. In fact, someone came up to me and said "So I hear you're getting a job here." And I'm like "Yeah, I've heard that too!" Everyone is for it, I could save them so much money by them giving me a job... something is snagged somewhere. I'm getting more freelance work from them still, so I'm just gonna wait it out I think. I've got a good deal with them now - no reason to push just yet.

Sounds like a deal to me! How does one package heat for shipping? ;)

I don't know, it's a conspiracy :paranoid: Mine started this crap like one week after the warranty ran out :| It's the case with a lot of things I think. Cheap shit made to be thrown out and replaced quickly. The mobile phone I have now is the first that actually works without flaws.

Hmm, I see. That's odd, but someone must have said something somewhere. Sometimes these things take time from the time they start to consider and plan till they actually do something about it?? Maybe that's the case. I send a job to a big book store where I really want to work, and they've actually called me in for an interview next week. I'm quite excited...and quite nervous!! I haven't been to an interview for years and I want a job there so badly. I don't know yet if they have an actual opening or just wanting to see me, so they know if they're interested in case something comes up.

Well, another reason I'm not letting the rumor excite me too much is that I've heard it all before. This time I think there is more to it, but it takes a lot of paperwork and meetings and such to have a new position created, and to find the funds for the salary. One bad thing about the college is all the red tape you have to work through to get something done. Maybe it will happen, maybe it won't. I do know that tomorrow is the end of their financial year - so that's when they need to have things worked out for budgetary stuff.

Congrats on the interview! You'll do great!

Yeah, I work at a university myself and goddamn the amounts of idiotic paperwork they have to go through for every little thing, tight budgets, rules, traditions blahblahblah.. I know what you mean, they're probably very interested in having you but it's a bit more complicated than just hiring from one day to the other. I'm confident they will get around to it eventually, they've discovered your worth but that's a bit frustrating for you.

Thanks

:| The job fairy stopped teasing me. I have a meeting first thing tomorrow morning. It has been sooooooo long since my last job interview, and I totally bombed that one. Meeting with clients is different, more casual, official meetings give me the butterflies! I have to go look and see if I even have dress up clothes! *panic*
